Slashdotted - Sunday 20th June 2004
I just got an article accepted on Slashdot! Basically, my gran (dad’ mum, whom I call ‘Oma’ because she was born in Germany) is blind in one eye and her other eye is deteriorating rapidly. I’m looking for technological solutions to help her. Read the full article on Slashdot.
Oh, and the university didn’t like my dissertation, giving it only 52%. It was too journalistic for them, and not disciplined enough. I don’t care for being disciplined. I wrote something which in my mind is of immense important to our society - our world, civilizations - and prefer to have scored lowly for that than to have written a dissertation on some mind numblingly boring (but ‘disciplined’) topic and receiving 70+% for it.

Got my degree… had to wait ages to get the results. I got a 2:1… yay me! Its gonna change my life soooo much. More importantly to me, I should find out what percentage I got for my dissertation tomorrow. I want them to respect the amount of work I put into it, although they may not have liked it due to it being a bit different and lets admit it, a tad arrogant too.
JakeG Limited & Degree Results - Saturday 5th June 2004
As of May 25th 2004 (my mum and sister’s birthday!) I now have my own company, JakeG Limited. With the company, I’ll be creating yearbooks under the trading name AllYearbooks.co.uk and also taking on other web development work.
In other fascinating news, on Tuesday I’ll be getting my degree results back! I’ll probably get a 2:1 but you never know… I could fail miserably and be a bum the rest of my life. Yeah! If only the degree mattered to me, if only it mattered.
